| Susie! It sounds like you have been very busy, as Shelagh said. It is nice to have you here, we can share caffeine! (It's a good thing you like smilies!) Do you like chocolate too? _________________ Zada Connaway Mother's Journals: parts 1, 2 and 3 ISBN # 1-4241-6969-0

| Before I added all the extra smilies to the forum, George posted smilies from his forum. Pam asked how he obtained the smilies and was told to right click on the image and look at the properties which showed the link to the image, which could be copied and pasted into posts.
This works fine, but not with private forums with their own, protected smilies. When a number of bandwidth theft images appeared on a number of posts, I clicked on the edit button above Pam's post (privilege of an adiminstrator) and checked the link for the image.
I then googled to find the forum to see what the problem was. I couldn't view the forum because it's a private forum. Instead, I clicked on "cache" to view one of the cached pages. All the smilies on the posts showed up as links, not images. I realised that the forum's smilies were protected and only available to members of the forum to use on the forum and not to transfer to other forums.
I sent Pam a pm and asked her to edit the posts. She edited one post but left the others.
I removed the [img] tags so that only the link shows.
It's one of life's lessons and lots can be learned from it; there are far worse things your heart can do than copy and paste forbidden smilies from one forum to another. Pam was just having fun and meant no harm.
This is for Pam. _________________ Shelagh Watkins http://shelaghwatkins.co.uk/ |

| Ah. I was wondering what was going on. I will just ignore those from now on. Uploading to the 'serving' site really works well. Thanks to your tip on doing it that way! _________________ Zada Connaway Mother's Journals: parts 1, 2 and 3 ISBN # 1-4241-6969-0

| Thanks for the flowers Shelagh--now that I know how it all works I just stand back and shake my head at the marvels of the internet.
And sincere welcome to our new forum pal! _________________ Pam Robertson http://andthebandplayedonmylawn.blogspot.com |
