| Hello everybody,
I sure do hope I came to the right place... You see I recently recieved the great opportunity to move out of my parents' house. I got this crazy idea to log my feelings in blog form every day, until my life is complete. I know what you're thinking, "wow HOW original". Just hear me out.
I hope to one day publish my blog into book form. I don't intend to hit it big or recieve any profit at all, but it would make everything worth it if helped at least one younger person like myself. I plan on making a blog entry every day until I die or become unable to do so, so I might need one of you to publish it for me!
I signed onto this forum to maybe share the experience and get some tips/encouragement from the community. It has always been my passion to write, but this is the first time I have had the inspiration and commitment.
So far I am on day 3 of my adventure. If you would like to follow along and see the blog I'm talking about just go to my homepage in my profile or click this link http://foothoughts.blogspot.com/.
I look forward to meeting you. -Adam |

| Hope you like it here and pick up some tips. I read your blog and suggest you add details as to the place you left and the one to which you are going. In a story such as yours, readers like details. _________________ Mystery Writers of America, Private Eye Writers of America www.dickstodghill.com |

| And here I thought this was the PUBLISHED Authors Forum and that professional distinction made it attractive to be here. Now are we are another Toddlers Training camp. Time to move on. Jim Woods www.ultrasw.com/jwoods |

Perchance Jim did you have a hand in the writing of the film 'Grumpy Old Men?'

| Adam, just a suggestion here. You might try to locate forums that specialize in blogs, rather than authors who have published books. _________________ Zada Connaway Mother's Journals: parts 1, 2 and 3 ISBN # 1-4241-6969-0

| Hi Adam,
Had a look at your blog too, and would ask for a lot more details so that I can get a good understanding of who you are, but you're off to a good start.
I think here you'll find lots of different things -- everyone has their own opinion, so you'll have to test it out and see if it's the right place for you. We're actually a very welcoming and inviting place but you do have to be committed - as a writer and as a member to get the most out of it.
If what you are really after is a way to increase traffic to and readership of your blog I would suggest a couple of things: -come up with a compelling reason for people to read your story regularly. What is it that makes your blog - your life - stand out from the massess of the others that are out there. What do you have to share with us? If you want to increase traffic and generate some kind of buzz, I would suggest adding something like Technorati as well as Entrecard and Sezwho to your blog (these are ways to get hold of readers and bring them to you).
Best of luck, and I look forward to hearing more about your writing adventures.

| Adam,
I do not wish to discourage you.
One thing I learned, when I first began writing, was how little I knew about the publishing world and submitting material.
You need to learn about your rights, formatting, and submitting. There are several writers magazines out there and some good books on writing. Check with your library and local books stores.
If you are not interested in making money but just want to put the work into book form, the easiest way is probaly self publishing, but that will cost you money.
It may help you to find a forum or chatroom with unpublished and new writers who are all going through the learning process together.
Here are a couple of blogger websites and one for young writers:

Wishing you the best. _________________ ~ JoElle ~ http://www.joellemartin.com

| Thank you all for your tips, I really do appreciate them.
To give you a beter idea of where I am going with this project I will try to explain things a little deeper. I am not worried about more traffic; traffic will come if my writing is good. It would be even more success in my eyes if I didn't promote it at all and eventualy had a caring audience.
Since I just started there will be little details. I plan to input past experiences in my life when the time comes that I can apply them. When I see the project as a whole, I see it starting out as if you had just met me. The only things you learn about me in the process would be in the context of conversation. I intend it to be slightly poetic in nature since that is how I translate my thoughts to paper. It will, more likely than not, target the teen age-group.
I am using the blog format for now because it is a great way to "journal" and to allow for people to follow along as I go. I am also trying to put more quality and thought into it; wrather than just yammering on about how I got ripped off at McDonalds I will post something that is more significant in my life. Blogs are also alot more accessable than if I were to be keeping a journal at home. People might never learn from my experiences if I am not able to share them, and I feel this is the best way to share.
I am not in any way discrediting the question of my place here. I just felt personaly that what I have in store for this journal is much bigger than the common blog and deserved maybe a more mature aproach for a supportive community.
You, as a whole, can determine if I have a place here. Whether a conversation be in private or public; I would really like you to examine what I have put on the table and decide, as a whole, if you can still maintain the mission of this forum with my influence. |

| Hi Adam,
Welcome to the forum. Murphy seems to have had a hand in your arrival on the forum. I am away from my computer, visiting my parents and this is the first opportunity I've had to read the recent posts on the forum. You are very welcome and Published Authors is only the name of the forum not a prerequisite to join. The name suggests that members here are as much looking to become published authors as they are already published. This is a place to share ideas about publishing and marketing books and you are very WELCOME.
I am disappointed that you have received anything but an unreserved welcome. _________________ Shelagh Watkins http://shelaghwatkins.co.uk/ |

| Adam thanks for expanding on your plans with us. I think that blogging and then compiling it into a book is a great idea. Sometimes people really struggle with "how should I start my book" and you've got it all figured out already. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you! Happy writing while you are at it!
