| If anyone else uses the HP LaserJet P1006 b/w printer, and knows how to print letter envelopes with return address and recipient address horizontally, I could use some help. For now I'm printing my return address across the end of the envelope and the recipient address on sticky labels. Jim Woods [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Can you change from portrait to landscape in print set up? |

| That would be the solution but I can't find out how to do it--yet. Jim Woods [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Jim, do you put the envelope into the printer in the same orientation as the 8x11 paper, or end-on?
My HP 722C takes the envelope end-on. I go through Microsoft Word and use their "envelopes and labels" feature.
Otherwise, I think would have to set the printer properties to "landscape". Never tried that though... |

| Jim,
If you use microsoft word to print your envelopes, it doesn't care what the printer is. You select size of envelope and whether it feeds end first or not and send it to print. I have three different printers depending on whether I'm using my laptop, desktop or my office system and it works for me.

| Okay Jim, I think I've found the solution. In Word, puill down the Tools menu and scroll down to Letters and Mailings. Select "Envelopes and Labels" from the list. This page might help: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| And that's three of us with the same solution... must be right!
Word will also let you save the return address! |

| Brew: Letter size envelopes are too wide to go in my printer anyway but end-on. Don: I'll keep trying on my next mass mailing but for now I can't make the envelope feature obey, and I am using Word. Shelagh: I went to the help notes and found the "envelopes and labels" slug but nothing that helped immediately. All: I kind of like the return address across the end of the envelope. In fact my formal stationary utilizes that feature by design. In the meantime I printed 150 3x1-inch Avery address labels for recipients. The mail chore is over for now, and I do appreciate the help and comments. The chore, incidentally, is to notify friends and my past readers of my newest book because the publisher doesn't do that sort of promotion. It's costing me a buck apiece to talk with people who are not e-connected. And I'm not trying to sell books personally except as a last resort. I'm directing prospective purchasers to the ground and e-stores. Jim Woods [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| If the envelopes feature in word doesn't work, you could try clicking on "properties" in the print dialogue box (top right after you click on "print") where you should be able to select portrait or landscape. |
