| 11/14/2010 Hi... Do you shop on black Friday ? Me , no way ! I used to work in retail, it's now become abusive towards it's employees. I shop all year round , more fun and I can take my time. Here's the stupidity of how early the stores are opening.. Walmart - Thanksgiving at Midnight ! Target - Opens at 4:00 AM ! Kohl's - Now here's the real employee killer they open at 3:00 AM Personally I think their all nuts ! Cheers....Joe.. |

| But you know Joe, there's nothing to beat that festive feeling of shopping at Christmas . And that's coming from someone who doesn't "celebrate" Christmas... but enjoys the spirit of it. Maybe the stores are all following the "early bird catches the worm" philosophy. It has to work as people follow the crowd. |

| I like waiting until December, when the spirit is in full swing. The problem is, things have become so commercialized, it's harder to do. And when the kids were growing up, there were often "in" toys that would sell out if you waited too long.
But I still try to recreate that spirit, waiting until you hear carols everywhere and the stores are decked out in holly.

| No way. The crowds are ridiculous. I prefer shopping online than fighting the greedy people.
My frail Mother-in-law goes to buy socks. One time she had some socks in her hand and another "lady" snatched them away from her.
I avoid crowds, being pushed around is not my idea of fun. |

| 11/14/2010 Alice.. I agree with you, I find it more fun when I shop around during the year, take my time, buy and put away. I prefer to plan dinner, friends, etc. I do go and shop for specialty foods for friends in stores, if they live long distance I usually have it sent via Figi's Food or Swiss Colony both are reliable.. Cheers...Joe |

| I bought a bunch of $25 Starbucks gift cards at Sam's yesterday. Those will be the bulk, if not all, of the gifts I give out. You can have Black Friday. |

I go to little out of the way places. There's a cool little center not far from my house here called Artisan's Alley: old-fashioned natural wood buildings, decks, etc. And all the shops are unique boutiques, crafts, and antiques. A lot of local stuff, and great little cafes for taking lunch breaks. The crowd goes to the malls. I don't do malls, even year round.
