I encourage all new authors looking for places to request reviews to check out PODBRAM
(POD Book Reviews & More). We review only self-published POD books.
Although we used to accept only iUniverse books, the site was expanded
to include all imprints earlier this year. We seek to review only the
best, although this lofty goal is not always attained. If your book is
selected for review, your review will be posted on other sites, too.
Many of our selected books receive several individually composed
reviews, and a handful of authors are selected for extensive, in-depth
interviews.

PODBRAM offers tons of useful, unbiased advice and information for
authors, too. Even if we do not accept your book for review, you will
find links to other free, legitimate review sites. We do not promote
any paid review sites. Our reviews are published for readers, not as
sugar-coated blurbs for incompetent writers. Although you may think we
have a connection with the corporate entity of iUniverse, that could
not be further from the truth. The company doesn't even want you to
know about us! They want to sell you their own overpriced reviews, and
ours are absolutely free!

Review requests can be made through comments on any post at PODBRAM or
directly to ice9 at e-tabitha dot com or tabitha at nctv dot com. This Submission Guideline Update will
lead you to more links concerning submissions. Let me give you a little
hint. The worse your Amazon ranking is, the less reviews you already
have, the more serious your subject matter, the higher your word count,
the more complete your marketing plan, the further you are from the
same old boring genres, and the more perfectly you appear to have
edited and proofread your book, the more likely your book is to be
selected. The fastest way to get rejected is to submit a book that
touts getting rich quickly or getting laid repeatedly, or has long
lists of glowing reviews from friends and known paid review sites. We
review only published paper copies. Thank you.

Best of luck with the business.

If you accepted e-books I would send mine in for review. But I've lost too many paperbacks through possible reviews and have had nothing to show for it.

The thing is, getting to keep a real, hard-cover book is sort of the reviewer's honorarium for doing the review. Reading a book, and then writing a 600-word review is, after all, quite a few hours of one's time.

My two cents, as a reviewer on the site.

I understand that. I'm a featured book reviewer for Future Fire.

I'm happy to give one of my books to a reviewer, what's happened in the past, is I've sent book, sometimes two, (as requested) to the same editorial reviewer and in the end my book wasn't reviewed. It's happened far too often and I just can't afford to keep doing it.

I would solicit the review in advance, send a book if they are disposed towards reviewing it.

I would not send books to the jillion little internet review sites, only newspapers, magazines, etc.

Unless a reviewer of obvious reach was really interested in the book.

I figure that for every book you give away you have to sell like four books to break even.

How many reviewers can deliver that sort of interest?
