Lots of craniums
All in neat little rows
In the deep dark catacombs
Far below the streets of the living
Oh, tell me the difference
For they’re all made of calcium and they all look just the same
Was this one rich and that one poor?
Was this one a prince and that one a serf?
Oh, tell me the difference
Was this one a warrior and that one a slave?
Was this one a genius and that one a simpleton?
Oh, tell me the difference
Was this one a teacher and that one a pupil?
Was this one a saint and that one a sinner?
Oh, tell me the difference
For they’re all long dead
And they’re all made of calcium and they all look just the same
Far below the streets of the living
In the deep dark catacombs
All in neat little rows
Lots of craniums
Oh, tell me the difference
For they’re all made of calcium and they all look just the same

Excellent Gordon. It reminds us that we are made of the same stuff. It is how we use our brain that makes us different.

The poem is ultimately about equality. Some were kings and some were serfs, but in the end both the kings and the surfs died and all their craniums were together in the catacombs and they were at last all equal.
