Hi Shelagh,

I think the newsletter is a great idea. Can it be linked to our email addresses, so we automatically receive a copy. I'm thinking more of those of us who don't post very often. It would be a great place to showcase articles and shortstories (of say 500wrds) written by members of the forum.

I love the idea of a newsletter! Perhaps short tips and/or heads up about the industry itself. Members could submit them to the editor Wink of the newsletter so 'she' wouldn't have so much to do. Or they could come directly from the forum. I like the idea of articles, etc. written by the foum members as well.

Thank you so much, Shelagh!!!!!!

Hi Jenny,

Did you check out the Newsletter link on the navigation bar? I would appreciate it if you spot any mistakes! On Sunday, I will be sending out a message to all my friends on Ning.

Don't expect any major input from members Sue! Wink I would appreciate some feedback on the first newsletter:

I really like this, Shelagh! So much good information that has been placed elsewhere but all in one place, here, for easy referral! I also think Victoria was a very good choice for the Featured Member!

I added 33 "Authors of the Week" to the Published Authors Network and some of the members were too busy to even acknowledgwe the work I'd put in (no need for thanks, just an acknowledgement that they had seen it would be enough -- but it was often too much).

It's impossible to include everyone on the same week and authors who are keen to be included find that weeks down the line it's inconvenient -- they are too busy, problems at work, family commitments etc. etc.

It would be worse with a newsletter. Members would want to send information when it suited them and they would be disappointed if it didn't appear as soon as they sent it -- they would hang around on the forum until their paticular piece appeared and then they would disappear. If it took too long they would soon become fed up with waiting and disappear before their articles were added.

You looked for an article on the Articles Board that had been removed by the member who posted it. That's the way it is. People use forums for their own purposes and when it no longer suits them they leave.

I will help anyone as much as I can but I won't chase after anyone and if either the network or the forum grinds to a halt, I'll find something else to do.

Great idea with the newsletter! I am acutally OK with it not being emailed - partly because I am here lots (painful for some of us I know, but I do try to temper it with food, wine and smilies) and partly because that way I won't be opening another email (there are so many in my inbox already!).

Good job Shelagh! You will have to ad some advertising to generate some income to offset all the time you spend on here (oops, that the career counsellor buried deep inside me --shut up already!). I love the clean, nice lines without ads. Perhaps more sponsors, yeah, that's the way to go!

Shelagh,
I think the information you have posted is important. There are some (speaking for myself) that forget "how to" when wanting to make changes. This offers a source for that as well as keeping up-to-date on the latest news.
I can imagine that eventually an "index" might be useful when the information expands.
