PostSubject: Successful at not selling books ....   Tue Feb 03, 2009 2:19 am

The internet is a very strange place. Did you know you begin to multiply without your knowledge?

Of course my novels can be ordered directly from my publisher here:

http://www.orchardhousepress.com/joellemartin

or from Amazon here:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=joelle+martin&x=15&y=11

And of course they are listed at Barnes & Noble here:

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?ean=9781590925416 and here: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?ean=9781590923726

But what really, really surprised me was finding my books also listed at: Amazon Japan.

And this place: http://www.buecher.de/go/search_search/quick_search/q/cXVlcnk9TWFydGluLCBKb2VsbGUmZmllbGQ9cGVyc29uZW4=/

and this place: http://www.ibs.it/ame/ser/serpge.asp?TY=EXA&Search=Martin%2C+Joelle

and here: http://www.bol.de/shop/buecher/mehr-von-suche/BUCH/sa/joelle_martin.html;jsessionid=fdc-l6vkvya3er5.tc4

and I'm here: http://www.powells.com/s?header=Search+Form&kw=joelle+martin

I am also here: http://www.booktopia.com.au/search.ep?author=Joelle%20Martin (I am in AUSTRALIA???)

How did I get here?: http://www.libreriauniversitaria.it/c_power_search.php?shelf=BEN&q=joelle+martin&submit=Invia

Somehow I ended up in this lovely place. I like it: http://openlibrary.org/a/OL3887694A

Sheesh!! And there are many, many more. But I think you guys get the point.

Maybe I should Google me more often. My mother did a search for me and told me she found me at Target and Powell's. I didn't know I was there.

So, I searched me and found myself all over the planet.

I may not be selling books ... but at least I feel successful about it. scratch

I love your humor, "I may not be selling books...but at least I feel succesful about it."

I'm part of a 19 person anthology, The World Outside The Window, with my short story,
"Rose's Question." Each anthology author is launching massive publicity, much of it on the Internet. I hope the results are sales, but at least we will be successful in gaining notoriety!

Funny thing the internet, huh?

I suppose if not for it, I would not be selling books AND unsuccessful about it.

Notoriety is good. It is a type of fame, right? Wink

Good attitude, Elf. Think of it, people throughout the world hear your name and say, "I know her. She's the lady whose book I didn't buy."
But think of all the much worse things you could be known for. Keep on truckin' and you'll reach your goal. Have you thought of a book recounting the tales of a female truck driver? Either fiction, non-fiction or both, seems to me there are great possibilities.

Dick is right.
Now if you start smoking a pipe, you may have even greater results. Dick might even recommend the right pipe and tobacco.

I DO smoke a pipe from time to time with my grandson.

But our pipes blow bubbles not smoke! scratch

"Successful at not selling books."

You know, I'm so good at this, I think I could make a career out of it.

Very contrite. Rolling Eyes

I'll just have to become a successful author now to thwart you. I guess that was the idea, huh?
Very transparent.

You will begin to notice that these are all just sites pulling from the same database. In the UK it is Nielsen, and in the US it is Bowkers Books-In-Print. They just set up a virtual store and plug in the database feed. You can buy the script to do it yourself for around $150.

Powell's doesn't surprise me!

Set your Google alerts and you'll be surprised where else you show up.

I've always told my husband that if he wanted to be very afraid just Google my name...
