PostSubject: Fiction book proposals   Thu May 21, 2009 10:49 pm

I queried an agent last year and finally received a response yesterday! The agent in question had obviously done her homework as she congratulated me on the contact for The House on the Shore and asked if I would like to query another title that was unpublished and uncommitted to my current contract.

As it happens, I've just signed a contract for my current WIP, but I replied and told her about an idea I had for another novel. To my surprise, I received a reply this evening, asking me to submit a polished proposal.

I wondered if anyone had any tips on writing proposals as opposed to query letters.

No, but I've been married three times. Sorry, Jenny, I haven't a clue other than it would be a sales pitch, which you already know.

Jenny, this is great news. I have no words of wisdom, but wanted to tell you how excited I am for you that you received such an encouraging and well deserved response!

Yes, Jenny, congratulations on the interest. No matter what you put in your proposal, I am sure it will be well received.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes, and to Shelagh for the links... I'll be sure to read these after I've had my cup of coffee!
