| There are now novels available as iPHONE APPS! Some sell for as little as 99 cents. JA Konrath is doing this. Many people are just reading books on their iPhones. Why carry a Kindle (or even a non-evil reader) around when you can read off your phone and also check internet, take pictures, make phone calls, etc? AND it's got better screen resolution, color and is actually wider than the Kindle screen, you just have to scroll more often. _________________

| I just read an article saying about the same thing. It suggested a small netbook dedicated to ebooks instead of an ereader. The article intimated that the buzz for ereaders will wear off, and they will go the way of 8 track tape players......after a good run. _________________ "All I know is in this moment." www.dkchristi.comwww.authorsden.com/dkchristiGhost Orchid Love, lies & redemption;a mystery unfolds. | Did I write it? Because that's exactly what I've been saying for a year or so. _________________

| I get Kindle books on my iphone. The app is free. The book cost is the same as if you were using a real Kindle. I have another for Barnes and Noble, same deal. The size is comfortable - I can hold it in my hand, can choose the text size, even highlight and take notes. Why buy a Kindle? Ann _________________ "Myth must be kept alive. | One reason I plan to go with smashwords.com for the ebook: they put the book into all forms...for Kindle, Sony E-reader, phones, and computers. Feels a bit like a spray-shot....bound to hit something in its path. |

| I've noticed lately that some books are available for both Kindle and Nook, sometimes with different prices. I downloaded one the other day for 9.99 from B&N; Amazon wanted 10.75. That is the advantage of the iphone. Both readers are free, so one can choose. Maybe someday somebody will come out with a generic reader that will download anything from anywhere. Until then, I think I'll stick to my phone. Ann _________________ "Myth must be kept alive. The people who can keep it alive are artists of one kind or another. | That's the beauty of smashwords, from what I can see. The books are available for download into whatever you have. They have recently affliated with amazon to list their Kindle titles on their website, too. I'm sure they'll put things into the I-pad format soon. It is all somewhat overwhelming at times. Lin, I love the whole "ask them all" mentality. Made me smile. |

Yes, the time is coming soon when we can download whatever we want wherever, but what do you think of the ipad? It seems to me to be an awkward size.

| I agree. At an awkward price. And awkwardly crippled (no Flash, no multi-tasking, no camera, etc) I don't think it's going to be the big deal people want to think. How would you even carry this thing around? It's geek bait. _________________

| I can't weigh in on this, as I still love a print book. Wave of the future, perhaps...but I'll still be on the beach, propped up with a snout frosted with sunblock, folding back the pages of my trade paperback. Doesn't mean I'll resist putting my novels on ebooks, tho... |
