Sounds as if writing is a joy for you, Rainbow, rather than work.
Sometimes I have to hunt for my muse, hit it over the head and drag it
back, kicking and screaming, to my desk.

Maybe you've answered your own question, Brenda.

Brenda,

Since the magazine is relatively new, they are concentrating first on books by authors close to home. They reviewed THE SUN SINGER about a year ago. I've been doing one review per issue for the past 6 months. It pays, though so far, I'm not able to use books that I would typically be reading already.

It's fun!

Malcolm

I didn't realize I was asking a question, Shealgh. I'll go back through this thread and look.

Malcolm, it's wonderful that you're doing so many reviews. Readers will
become accustomed to seeing your name, so when you're ready to announce
a new book or even an older one, it'll be name recognition and more
sales. At least that's the theory with tv commericals and it seems to
work for them.

Not necessarily a joy, although she does come when she wants, as for
instance, which I wrote after hearing some talk show hosts on the
Sirius Left channel, actually I got to read it live on air too, though
they know me there as English Rick!:

My Muse doesn't usually title my words, so if anyone can come up with a title please let me know, you'll get appropriate credit!

July 1 2008...Mossy Head, Florida...5:37 in the a.m.

We have got a man who's nuts, invading where he will
Congress doth approve it, so he's doing it still!
Covert operations, destabilise while there
So we will provoke them and stir up much bad air!
Guess who we are paying to do this job for us
Groups who are on the terrorist list
They all got on the bus!
We paid another terrorist
And then he paid us back
Not with thanks and gratitude
Instead he launched attacks!
For that they launched a war they did
Then switched to somewhere else
Felled a cruel dictator, which we all thought was swell!
And yet the man that launched attacks
Is out there running free
While we are paying terrorists
To terrorise...Oh Whoopeee!
Will anybody stop this?
Or will we just lie down?
And let these men destroy our world
So please send in the clowns!
For clowns are what we seem to be
We're fiddling once again
Just like Nero in the past
While Rome burns up in flames!

Try going coo-eee muse, where are you, not sure I'd appreciate being hit over the head and dragged kicking and screaming lol!

So you think a seductive, coy voice would better entice my muse? Might try it, Rainbow.

Enjoyed your verse.

It certainly might and you never know maybe she dislikes being referred to as It especially if she's a fan of the Munsters...

Well, at the moment I wish I had the time to do the rewrite, edit and continuing on present writing projects. We are remodeling, haying, harvesting veggies from the garden and moving furniture around to make room for tools, wood, cabinets, etc. Not to mention battling 97 degree heat! It seems my only relief is to come here a couple of times a day and give the brain a rest!

We were in Louisiana yesterday. Almost to El Paso TX now.

Actually between driving ten hours a day and sleeping nine (I love my sleep) I don't get to write as much as I would like.

But at least when I do write I have very little interruptions outside of bumpy roads.

I can NOT write in Louisiana ... the roads are much too bumpy. My laptop literally flies into the air off my lap.

But I do LOVE my job. From El Paso we turn around and go to Georgia.

I'm honoured
to be among such literary people, I write 'when My Muse Strikes' and
apart from my 2 books, oh and I did win my English Grammar school
poetry prize 3 years in a row, that's about it.

Tell me about Louisiana's roads, if I wanted to ride a bucking bronco, I have signed up for the circus! jocolor

Not much to tell ... Louisiana's roads are bumpy. bounce

How bumpy? Well one time we had a delivery in Dallas. From there we were dispatched to Louisiana. My husband went to sleep several hours before our delivery. He slept through the delivery and dispatch. He didn't wake up until I was in LA. He didn't even have to ask me where we were ... he knew. The bumpy roads had woke him.

Oh, I almost forgot. In addition to that other stuff I've written ... ... I also belong to a healthy driver forum and a trucking magazine read of my efforts to be healthy on the road and asked me to write for them. I just submitted my first article to them.

Hey Rainbow! I am heading to South Texas!!!

Hey Forest Elf

If you make it to Laredo let me know I'm off work for the moment as I'm
going to the Laredo Medical Center on monday to see if I can get my
problems sorted. In fact I brought the truck home to clear it out and
when carrying something from the truck to the RV I tripped and fell
face down like a bellyflop in water, 'cept it wasn't water and I nearly
knocked myself out, cuts on my face and a bruised sternum to boot, so
I'll be off for a while my cell-fone is 203-565-7829, btw if I don't
answer, leave a message, you won't be one of the changes! Wink

Elf, do they still have a free rangle law in Louisiana? When I spent what seemed years of my life there in 1952 a cow could lie down in the middle of the highway and if you hit it, you bought it.

Unfortuantely my muse is there all the time. I can't get things on paper fast enough and it goes out my brain by the time I get to paper and pen, or, for that matter, a tape recorder. I even have hubby writing things down as I drive the car. He just loves that. NOT! Sometimes it comes back. Sometimes it doesn't. No matter. I get it down in some form when I am suppose to get it written. Funny how that happens. It can be a day or six months. Oh well. Back to the grind (Just a saying, not really a grind.).

Sounds like your muse is related to mine!!!!!
I bet our muses are twins!!!

There is nothing like getting a perfect dialogue in the brain while driving a tractor trailer weighing 74,000 lbs through Chicago traffic and not being able to write it down (or record it) because you can't take your hands off the wheel ... because the construction has you stuck 8 inches from the SUV on the left and 6 inches from the concrete barrier on your right.
