| Good Gawd, Dick. I'm younger than you and don't accomplish half of what you do. Amazing, especially for someone with colitis. Do you have book selves in your bathroom? I do, even read in the tub and have been known to print out documents to edit while soaking.
Lordy, we writers are a weird bunch, but thank goodness for all of us. How dull this world be without all of our different personalities and interests.
Are you planning, like George Burns, to have a wingding of a 100th birthday party? _________________ www.brendahill.com www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cu6YeS9_Ro |

| I finished my third novel, a historical western, it was released in February. Wrote some short stories, one of which was submitted to the anthology. Got my rights back for HALO and BEARKILLER. Rewrote them and had both edited. HALO was re-released the end of May. The cover design for HALO was mine so as soon as I got the manuscript back from the editor I was able to submit it. BEARKILLER was PA’s cover so I had to have a new one designed, it is currently in the final proof stage, as soon as I get it back, it will be re-released, probably late Fall. As a matter of fact, here if the proof copy of my cover.

I am about half-way through writing my fourth book…a sequel to HALO.
From the 4th of February until the 7th of July, I was a 24/7 “Caregiver” for my wife. She had hip replacement surgery the 4th and the bone around the implant broke on the 26th. She had to go back in the hospital for emergency surgery. Long story short…there were major complications. She is able to get up and around now, so I went back to work on Monday.
Two of the book stores that wouldn’t touch my books before, are scheduling signings. _________________ D.J.(Don)Stephens WWW.DJSTEPHENS.NET Writer Extraordinaire BEARKILLER - 0-7414-4966-8 HALO - 0-7414-4846-7 DEATH RIDER - 0-7414-4550-6 Amazon Shorts Contributor Lion Tamer, Piano Tuner, Soldier of Fortune All Around Nice Guy

| That's wonderful, Don. Congratulations on the new releases! And I love the new cover, think I like it even better than the original.
Four books, wow. Don't know how you do it, especially with everything else.
Good news about your wife. Hope she continues to improve. _________________ www.brendahill.com www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cu6YeS9_Ro |

| You are all so impressive!!!!
I have had health problems, my mom died, and somehow I am not writing, reading much. But with this group, especially Dick, I've got to start writing and it will probably improve everything!
Thanks for the inspiration!!

| Carol, with all your accomplishments, you don't have to take a back seat to anyone.
I'm so sorry about your mother. But you're right about being in the company of writers. It does help. _________________ www.brendahill.com www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cu6YeS9_Ro |

| I finished my second book earlier this year and am in the process of submitting it to agents and publishers. So far I've received requests for 4 partials and 2 fulls, and I can tell you that the waiting to hear is worse than struggling to write the darned book! I started plotting my third novel late last year, but trips aboard have meant a delay in writing. However, a new laptop now means that I can write while away from home! _________________ Jenny Writing as Victoria Howard

| You folks are impressive, and inspiring too! In addition to some of my writing stuff that I have written about before I have recently been asked to co-write a book for trainers (a how-to manual for human resources folks that are also required to provide training). Now I just need to work in a few more hours to each day and I should have it. I have come up with a cool idea that I am also fleshing out...I'm going to use the characters in the short story that I submitted for the anthology as a launching point for a new novel. Never a dull moment is there? _________________ Pam Robertson http://andthebandplayedonmylawn.blogspot.com |

| Well, Brenda, you've been busy and so has everyone else. Wow.
Most of my time is occupied with...
Seeking a publisher for my novel GARDEN OF HEAVEN
Serving as a contributing writer for a regional magazine where I'm currently writing the book reviews.
Helping with the research and grant writing at the Crawford W. Long Museum.
Considering whether I'm really ready to start work on the sequel to THE SUN SINGER.

| You’re writing reviews for a regional magazine, Malcolm? That’s impressive. How do you like doing it? Does it mean reading books you might not read otherwise? And I love your titles. Garden of Heaven and The Sun Singer sound intriguing.
And Pam. Writing a training manual for human resources sounds like a huge task, but one, I’m sure, you’ll accomplish with ease. After all, what’s a little thing like a textbook that may be used all over the world to a woman who holds a Pd.D and also plays the bagpipes?
Oh, Jenny, yes, waiting for word from an agent is torture. I made myself sick waiting, and when she called actually wanting to represent my work, I sat and bawled. And that was only the beginning. Then, when she sent word that an acquiring editor was reading it, I broke out in hives.
Who else but a crazy bunch of writers would go through all of that torture again and again just to follow their dreams?
But we willingly do it. After all, we give the world some wonderful things--imagination and dreams, qualities just as important as technology.
So hang in there, and be sure to let us know.
Going now to spend the day with my new grandson. Will check the thread later. Love this. It's so inspiring to be in the company of such accomplished people. _________________ www.brendahill.com www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cu6YeS9_Ro |

| I haven't been around much lately because I've been busy with other stuff, but this seems like a good thread to mention some of that other stuff (some of it I can't mention yet, because it hasn't been announced).
One writing project was a biographical comic book of a currently very famous individual--I'm being interviewed by the New York Times about this Monday, for a piece that'll run in the print and online editions sometime in the next two weeks.
I've also done some comics work for an online gaming company, which may make it into print as well as online when the game launches later this year.
And I've written an original horror graphic novel called Zombie Cop, for which I just got my signed publishing contracts back yesterday. It'll be published in Feb. by Image Comics.
I've been working on the follow-up to supernatural thrillers Missing White Girl and River Runs Red (coming in Sept.), called Cold Black Hearts. Penguin will publish CBH in 2009.
I have short stories coming in an anthology of Zorro stories (on sale any time now, they tell me) and in a Western anthology to be published by Pinnacle later this year.
I wrote the stories and dialogue for a CSI DVD game, coming from Hasbro sometime this year.
My novels 30 Days of Night: Eternal Damnation, CSI: Miami: Right to Die, River Runs Red, and Spider-Man: Requiem will be published in July, Aug., Sept., Oct. respectively.
And I'm about to start writing a top-secret illustrated young adult novel as a work-for-hire project.
I think that's about it, but there might be some things I've forgotten about...

| Hi Jeff, If you have a friendship story (any genre) that I could add to the anthology, I would be delighted to receive it! _________________ Shelagh Watkins http://shelaghwatkins.co.uk/ |

| Jeff, if a link becomes available to the interview, how about posting it. I'd love to read something great in the NY Times and feel as if I know that person--sorta. In the meantime, congratulations on your novels and all 'that other stuff.' I'd love to have some of your success. _________________ www.brendahill.com www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cu6YeS9_Ro

Actually between driving ten hours a day and sleeping nine (I love my sleep) I don't get to write as much as I would like.
But at least when I do write I have very little interruptions outside of bumpy roads.
I can NOT write in Louisiana ... the roads are much too bumpy. My laptop literally flies into the air off my lap.
But I do LOVE my job. From El Paso we turn around and go to Georgia. |
I'm honoured to be among such literary people, I write 'when My Muse Strikes' and apart from my 2 books, oh and I did win my English Grammar school poetry prize 3 years in a row, that's about it.
Tell me about Louisiana's roads, if I wanted to ride a bucking bronco, I have signed up for the circus! _________________ Welcome Earthlings http://fly.to/rainbow689 |
