I love lobster and crab, and have a weird related story...related to where this thread is going, not where it started out, but here goes...in the 1970s where I grew up (on the prairies), us po' kids had to take bologna or mock chicken loaf sandwiches for lunch, or if times were really tough, peanut butter and jam. In those days if you lived in the Maritimes, however (where I now live), kids took a lobster sandwich to school if they were poor; bologna was a treat. This time of year, they even have a McLobster at McDonalds around here. Strange but true. _________________ Pam Robertson http://andthebandplayedonmylawn.blogspot.com |

| Fascinating stuff, Shelagh. Thanks for the link, the article was interesting. I had never heard of it. _________________ Zada Connaway Mother's Journals: parts 1, 2 and 3 ISBN # 1-4241-6969-0

| Dear Shelagh, It goes to show that people have similar techniques worldwide. When I was a child, my evil father drug all us kids down to a stagnating hole of water. The river dried up for miles and the last refuge for any fish that had been in that river was in that hole. He did that 'noodling' kind of fishing and when he grabbed one, he threw it up onto the bank where we children stood with a burlap sack. It was catfish he noodled. He threw one up and the spine of the catfish stabbed and lodged into my brothers nose. What a shriek he let out. What pain that was! I have been horned by catfish and it is paralizing. I yanked the fish off his nose and noticed the purple, bleeding node that began the swelling. He cried. I cried. That fish flapped back into the water to be noodled another day. I think that was my only experience with the god-awful thing called noodling. Hungry as we all were, there was no joy in those fish. Love, Betty _________________ www.woofferbook.com |

| Well after that story Betty, I think that I will stick to noodles that come in plastic packaging. No pokes in the nose that way! _________________ Pam Robertson http://andthebandplayedonmylawn.blogspot.com |

| You can just send a McLobster my way, but no noodling for me, either! _________________ Zada Connaway Mother's Journals: parts 1, 2 and 3 ISBN # 1-4241-6969-0

| If they shipped them that far Zada, I'd send you one. I think you may have to plan a cross country holiday!

| Sounds like it. They don't even have a crab Mcmuffin here, and we have lots of crab. Bummer. I suppose now I will have to make a crab sandwich, you have me hungry again. Shame on you! (I won't pay the price for lobster out here. It's around $10. a lb.) _________________ Zada Connaway Mother's Journals: parts 1, 2 and 3 ISBN # 1-4241-6969-0

| Zada it's $12-15 a pound here to buy it fresh, and much worse in the restaurants...unless you go down when the boats come in, and then it's about $5-8. Trouble is that you have to get up so early! _________________ Pam Robertson http://andthebandplayedonmylawn.blogspot.com |

| Since it's not a local delicacy, I would have to get up early enough to catch a plane to the East coast that would arrive really early. Not to mention the cost of air fares right now! _________________ Zada Connaway Mother's Journals: parts 1, 2 and 3 ISBN # 1-4241-6969-0
