History comes alive.
In doing more research about my current writing project, I stumbled onto a website that brought the history of the civil war alive. The picture of the house in the following website is where I lived when I started school in Rossville, PA. My father’s aunt owned the house. We lived there from 1942 to 1947. Of course the house looked different at that time.

After leaving Dover, PA., (where I lived at a later date) J.E.B. Stuart split his troops and one contingent went through Wellsville, PA., on July 1st 1863. My great grandfather was born in Wellsville, on July 3rd, 1863. His father was 29 years old at the time and had horses that were taken by Stuart’s troops. Records indicate that he submitted a claim to the State for compensation that he never got.
