| Biscuits of all kinds should be outlawed. Don't all you Johnny Rebs remember the old song: The biscuits that they feed us, They say are very fine. One rolled off the table, And killed a pal of mine. .....Gee, Ma, I wanna go home. _________________ Member: Mystery Writers of America; Private Eye Writers of America website: www.dickstodghill.com |

| Dick, that sounds like my first attempt at biscuits. Once I learned how to cook, the items I pulled from the oven were no longer a threat to anyone, unless you count indigestion!! And that was usually a result of over indulgence. |

| Me too, Zada. I love to cook. Actually it's the only household 'chore' I like. When I made biscuits for my new husband many years ago. I was just learning, and the first batch came out like rocks. I dumped them in the garbage and a few seconds later, my husband came running in from the back of the house, sure I'd fallen. He needed some mending done and I didn't have a clue, so thinking he'd help, he purchased a brand new sewing machine for me. I didn't know the first thing about it and my neighbor showed me how to thread the thing. My husband brought his jeans for me to mend and I did a wonderful job--of stitching his fly to his back pocket. | Those are great memories, Brenda. Brought back a few for me. When my mate and I got together, I warned him that I willl NOT be married to a house. I expect him to help where he sees a need! And he does. |

| Brenda, Great story. I love our pontoon boat. When our kids were young we had a speed boat, which most of the time went in circles to pick up kids learning to water ski. But the pontoon goes slowly over the water and is great for fishing. I can sew, but baking just doesn't work for me. One day I proudly made brownies. However, when they were baking they smelled more like French bread, which made sense once I figured out the oil I mixed in had garlic in it. Carol |

| Loved your story Brenda. I never realized that a boat could cure someone of the lust to kill. _________________ "To Beirut and Back" "They Plotted Revenge Against America" "Journey Into The Past" http://www.abemarch.com"With every adversity there is a benefit.""To grow, to progress, is to change.""Whatever the question, love is the answer. | Abe, it could work for some people. This thread has gotten so far off topic. Should we be concerned? Carol |

| You're right Carol. I guess we all are guilty of that at times. I suppose we just go with the flow. _________________ "To Beirut and Back" "They Plotted Revenge Against America" "Journey Into The Past" http://www.abemarch.com"With every adversity there is a benefit.""To grow, to progress, is to change.""Whatever the question, love is the answer. | For me, Abe, a pontoon could cure most anything. I never did get one, tho.
Brownies with garlic? Now that tops everything.
Good for you, Zada. Maybe I'll take lessons for next time. |

| Stitched his fly to his back pocket! Did he laugh, or visit his lawyer the next morning? _________________ Member: Mystery Writers of America; Private Eye Writers of America website: www.dickstodghill.com |

| He waited a bit to visit his lawyer--thirty years to be exact. At the time with the sewing machine, he didn't know what to think of a grown woman who had no basic homemaking skills. Thank God I loved to cook or I probabaly would've lost my happy home long before I actually did. I still can't sew, but the difference is, now I don't care. That's one good thing about the single life. Plus I can take as long as I want in the bathroom, and I don't have to share the tv clicker. Oh what bliss. |

| I did a good job of sewing buttons, etc. in the army. Now I just hold them out and look helpless and the job is done for me. _________________ Member: Mystery Writers of America; Private Eye Writers of America website: www.dickstodghill.com |

| Looking helpless is the key. My husband used to take his mending to my mother and they'd both give me that pitiful look as if I were nice, but not too bright. |
