Dick, that’s a Southern term for homemade biscuits about the size of a cat’s head.

My grandmother used to make two batches of biscuits every day, and when I visited, she d make the special, larger size ones for me.

I'll probably be banned from the South forever, but I never could stand grits. Give me good ol' fried potatoes any time.

For Dick:

"Southern Cat Head Biscuits recipe from GroupRecipes.com. Cats head biscuits cook and look like a cat's head. It's a Southern term."

And if Jackie wants the recipe, she can get one version here:

Zada, that recipe was soundin' real good until it got to the part about
cutting the dough into squares, or using a round cutter. That blew it.
My grandma "peenched" (a suthun term for pinched) the dough off and
shaped it in her palms.

They got it right though when they said not to over-knead the dough...

Cooks and looks like a cat head? You got some `splainin' to do.

Can't eat? Uh huh. Proves you're a Yankee. We Southerners can talk
about food all day long and argue until Doomsday about pinching out
pieces of dough or cutting them.

Southern boy drives up north, gets pulled over by a Yankee patrolman.
Cop comes to the window of the old pickup with Confederate flag plates and says, You got any ID?

'Bout what?

Good one, Lin.

We Yankees don't talk much about food. We just eat it.

Hmmm. Reckon that's why you're so slim and I'm . . . well, let's say I'm not. Got it! I'm well-padded--for all those falls off the turnip truck.

Well, you might have heard we have a flood problem here in Wisconsin.

Today the Wisconsin State Journal had a great cartoon. There was a big ark in the background and Noah's wife was asking Noah if they needed anything else on the ark.

Noah says, "I think we also need two beers, two brats, and two Packer tickets, just to be sure we have everything."

That about says it for food in Wisconsin. And that might fit in with Shelagh's stranded on a remote island thread as well.

Packer tickets - yep, that's Wisconsin all right.

Brenda, it pays to have a little extra padding in case of emergency such as the grocer running out of city chicken and pierogies.

Pier-whatogies? Could that, be any chance, by a reference to someone most of us know? Hummm?

Hi, Carol. Welcome.

You haven't lived until you've had a hot Cathead slathered with butter.

Were you all nearby, we'd have breakfast with a huge platter of Catheads...

Oh...and, Shelagh...

While there might be more room on the back, the front is ample enough for my T-shirt saying...
