Maggie Bendar
Maggie Bendar was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, where, in turn, she raised her two daughters. Near the end of high school, Maggie joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a musician, which meant that she also trained as an infantry soldier. A member of the local reserve band, she actually enjoyed shooting almost as much as the music and concerts. Her favourite memories include playing for an officer's mess dinner in a field near Dundurn, Saskatchewan, and then at night lobbing dummy grenades into the compound and creating all kinds of havoc. Something of a gypsy, she has also lived in British Columbia, Yukon Territory, and Great Britain.

Maggie's first novel, Marching Across the Heart, was published in 2007.

Anne belongs to a military band in the army reserves. She is ready for a summer of work, fun and maybe a little romance at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt, just outside of Victoria, British Columbia. Things start out well but take on a fateful change as Anne faces upset and upheaval, and discovers, more than once, that people aren't always who you think they are.
When Anne faces the biggest threat of her life, she has to call on her wits - and her training - to survive. Not a victim of circumstance, Anne takes on the toughest challenge of her young life. Marching Across the Heart is Maggie Bendar's first novel.
Betrayal, hard work and the tribulations of fitting into the military life along with being a dynamic woman are just part of this heartfelt and difficult to put down story.
